The name itself — light of brightness — captures the practice’s intention: the dispelling of obscurations of every kind, whether external (obstacles, ill fortune) or internal (confusion, anxiety, the loss of clear seeing). At the simplest level, light dispels darkness, and the offering of light is the giving of clarity. At a deeper level, the lamp represents the inherent radiance of the awakened mind — the wisdom-light every being carries as their own innermost nature.
